Kano State Governor Expresses Optimism For 2026

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has expressed optimism that 2026 will mark a year of positive change, increased democratic dividends and strengthened national unity.

He called on Nigerians to support efforts aimed at peace and development across the country.

Governor Yusuf described the new year as the beginning of a fresh chapter, not only for Kano but for the nation, anchored on unity, progress and inclusive governance.

He said 2026 would focus strongly on youth and women empowerment, assuring that young men and women across Kano’s 44 local government areas would benefit from targeted policies aimed at employment, skills development and improved welfare.

Reflecting on the outgone year, the governor noted that 2025 witnessed significant developmental projects in Kano State despite numerous challenges.

He attributed the state’s relative stability to the cooperation and support of security agencies, commending them for their role in addressing security threats and safeguarding lives and property.

Governor Yusuf pledged that his administration would intensify development efforts across critical sectors of the economy, including education, agriculture, human capital development and environmental sustainability, in line with broader national development aspirations.

He emphasised that peace and unity remain central to achieving sustainable growth, stressing that Nigeria, with its diversity of tribes, religions and ethnic groups, must remain united to unlock its full potential.

While calling on citizens to support government initiatives at both state and national levels, the governor said Kano aspires to become a model of good governance, peace and development, contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s progress.

Governor Yusuf while also congratulating Kano residents and all Nigerians on the New Year, offers prayers for peace, unity and prosperity in 2026.
