Kano State Governor Presents 2025 Proposed Budget To State Legislature

The Kano State Governor in North West Nigeria Abba Kabir Yusuf has presented a proposed Budget of N549,160,417,663.00 billion for the year 2025.
The Governor made the presentation to the state legislature on Friday with Capital components proposed at N312,634,912,672.18billion,
while the recurrent expenditure expected at N236,525,504,990.82billion.
Governor Yusuf who tagged the budget as “Budget of hope, human capital and economic development”, informed the state Assembly that, when fully approved, “the budget is projected to have a ratio of capital to recurrent 57:43 percent respectively.”
While giving the sectoral breakdown of the budget, Governor Yusuf said, Education takes the lion share of 31.00 percent which is N168,350,802,346,19b, while Governance Institutions will receive 17.57 percent which is N98,242,089,019.58b.
He said, Health will receive 16.50 percent of the budget of 90,600,835,766.48b naira, while 12.87 percent of the budget goes to infrastructure development of N70,682,843,744.15 billion.
Governor Yusuf said, Security, Justice
and Emergency Services as well as Water Supply and Rural Development takes 4.00 and 4.96 percent respectively.
Agriculture got 3.83 percent, Women, Youth and People with Special Needs.3.15 percent, Transport development 2.33 percent, Environment and sanitation 2.83 percent, while Manufacturing, Commerce, Industry and
Tourism got 1.22 percent of the budget.
The Governor assured that, priorities of the administration in 2025 will be geared at human capital and infrastructural development as he pledged to increase access to quality education despite the meager resources.
“In line with this, I want to inform this respected chamber that we are considering the resuscitation of
Kano Education Development Support, (KEDS), under the Ministry of Education.”
2024 Budget Performance:
The Governor said the 2024 budget recorded 77 percent performance even though hampered by the current economic challenges.
He said the blockage of leakages has significantly helped the recording achievements in 2024.
Governor Yusuf said the revenue generation in the state has been improved through the removal of ghost workers and improving ease of doing business in the state.
He said the declaration of state of emergency on Education through improved budgetary allocation is yielding results in the state as many Institutions have been reopened, renovation of schools infrastructure and procurement of learning facilities to Schools as well as continued commitment to counterparts finding.
Governor Yusuf who promised commitment address out of school children and drop outs, his administration is has established many learning centers for hawkers and others across the state through many initiatives.
He pledged continues support to Scholarship abroad of various categories of advance learning.
The speaker Jibril Falgore who assured the Governor of speedy passage of the budget appealed for the renovation the the state Assembly complex.
