Kano state Governor, Dr. Umar Ganduje, has signed the 2022 budget of over N221 billion into law.
The signed bill was up by more than 24.8 billion Naira from the 196 billion Naira presented to the house by the governor on the 28 October, this year.
Governor Ganduje who signed the budget tagged ” Budget for Consolidation and prosperity” as presented by the Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Hamisu Chidari at the Government House, Kano said the Budget is meant to complete major projects as the administration moves into transition period of election year 2023.
He said the budget which has high priority and percentage for capital projects will be implemented beginning from. 1st January,2022.
“The N221,235,185,147:00 is to complete all major projects to ensure sustainable development in the state and to make sure that no liability is left behind.”
“We hope that with this budget the much needed development in the rural areas will also be tackled.”
“I want to assure you that the implementation of this budget will be followed religiously,” assured Ganduje
He commended the state House of Assembly for the timely passage of the bill and allowing for public contributions through community, academic, CSOs and other Stakeholders participation, thereby giving credibility to the budget.
Governor Ganduje promised financial autonomy to the legislative house stressing that part of the steps led to the establishment of the legislative Service Commission recently.
He commended the synergy between the Legislature and the Executive in the state, describing it as “the best in the country Nigeria,”as well as security agencies and other stakeholders, all which have led to a more secured and peaceful Kano state.
The Speaker, Hon Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari said the budget was passed by the house in accordance with the requisite of the law and contributions made by the public aimed at meaningful development of the state.
” Today we are witnessing the signing of a clean and well deliberated bill for sustainable development in Kano state,” said Hon.Chidari.
He said the assembly is ever ready to work along with the executives and other arms the Government for effective development of the ancient city of Kano, the second biggest commercial city in Nigeria.
Three other bills passed recently by the state assembly were also signed into law.
