Kano state launches water plant for irrigation

Kano state has launched water plant for irrigation to relief rural dwellers in Danja and Gamoji communities in Gezawa and Gaya Local Government Area of the state.

Representing the minister, Northwest Regional Director of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Engr. Mathew Owolabi led the delivery of the project to the communities.

The plant uses two motorized boreholes as the main source of water which is pumped by a 1.5HP submersible pump through riser pipes to a 50,000 litres reserve tank.

The plant will need adequate water supply as dry season commences.

Nanono also restated that the project was part of the ongoing effort of the administration to transform the agricultural sector, urging the local government and the emirate to accept responsibility for the uses of the project for sustainability.

This government is fully committed to this noble cause by committing huge amounts of funds and enabling an environment for effective private sector participation, collaborations with State governments and donor funding agencies”.

While commending the Honourable Minister for his sustained efforts towards improving the lives and livelihood of rural dwellers, the Chairman-elect, Gaya LGA, Alh. Ahmad Tashi Abdullahi also sought the Minister’s intervention to construct an access road in the Gamoji community.
