The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has concluded its National Assembly primary elections in Kano state, an event described as peaceful.

Speaking on the party’s primary elections outcomes, the National Secretary of the Congress Committee, Sani MB Ahmad, said the party had conducted peaceful elections.

He said the party failed to field aspirants for two senatorial seats in the three senatorial districts in the state, stressing that some House of Representatives members also did not turn up for the election, which created a vacuum in the local governments they represent under the party.

“The elections conducted were peaceful and with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Department of State Services (DSS), Police and other stakeholders’ participation, which made it authentic.

We will submit the reports at the party’s headquarters in Abuja,” he confirmed.

Ahmad said they sent him from Abuja to observe the elections, which he has done.

When contacted for reaction, the PDP chairman in Kano state, Wada Sagagi, said he was “barred by the court from parading himself as the chairman of the party, pending the determination of substantive suits filed by Ambassador Aminu Wali faction challenging his leadership.”

The injunction, however, was later vacated by a Federal High Court in Kano, validating Sagagi as the Chairman.
