Kano State shuts down four Tertiary institutions

Kano state government has shut down four of its tertiary institutions in the state due to concerns of insecurity.

The state Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure said the state Governor Dr. Umar Ganduje has directed the closure of some Tertiary Institutions in the state with immediate effect.

She said the schools involved includes: RMK college of Advanced and Remedial Studies T/Wada; School of Environmental Studies Gwarzo; School of Rural Technology and Entrepreneurship Development ( SORTED) Rano and ABCOAD,  Dambatta.

With this instruction, all students of the affected schools are advised to vacate the campuses as soon as possible,” the Commissioner said.

She added that date for school re-opening will be communicated later and regretted all inconveniences caused by the development.

All the four schools are located in remote areas housing reasonable numbers of boarding students.

The state government had also on Friday shut down 12 boarding secondary schools in the state attributing it to insecurity.

In the early hours of friday over 300 female students were abducted by suspected bandits from a boarding secondary school in Jangebe, Zamfara State.
