Katsina State Governor-elect thanks Citizens, pledges his best

Winner of the Katsina State governorship election, Dr Umaru Radda has thanked the people of the state for electing him to serve as the next Governor of the State.

Radda expressed his appreciation at a press conference in Katsina on Sunday night, after he was declared winner of the March 18 governorship election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He pledged to gives his best when he assumes leadership of the state on May 29, 2023.

He said: “As winners of the 2023 gubernatorial election, we believe it is now time to give nothing less than our best as a government. When I assume duty as your Governor, I will be humble in my dispensation, diligent in my execution and sincere in my actions. I want to seize this opportunity to accept the mandate given to me by the people of Katsina State.

“I want to extend my deep gratitude to everyone who voted for me and my party the APC in the just concluded election. I also want to thank everyone who participated in our democratic process. I also want to sincerely thank our Governor, Aminu Masari and all other stakeholders of our party, who were able to deliver us.”

The Governor-Elect also thanked specially, President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the enabling environment for Nigeria’s democracy to thrive.

On his plans for the State, Radda pledged to tackle the challenges confronting the State, especially that of insecurity.

“The security of our dear state will be of paramount importance to me and we will proactively go after all banditry and criminal elements in our state. Our government will take possible measures to make every part of our state safe,” he added.

He further disclosed that the incoming administration of the State under his leadership will revamp the economy, transform the education and health sectors as well as provide top notch public service.

“Visionary leadership entails very concise attainable goals and I believe I can lead a government that can deliver for the people of Katsina State. As we embark on our future building project, I am driven by sincerity of purpose and complete dedication to accomplishing our objectives so as to make Katsina State better,” Radda said.

He assured the youth that they will be given the needed attention and carried along because they remain the future of the State.

Umaru Dikko Radda was declared winner of the gubernatorial election in Katsina State, having polled a total of 859, 892 votes while People’s Democratic Party’s Yakubu Lado came distant second with 486, 620 votes.

Streets of the state capital Katsina immediately went into frenzy, as the Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Mu’azu Abubakar announced the results.
