The Katsina State Coordinating Unit of the Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-Cares) has commenced disbursement of cash assistance to victims of bandit attacks and vulnerable persons in the state
The cash assistance, which was launched in Katsina, was under the livelihood support programme aimed at assisting beneficiaries to set up businesses toward improving their lives.
Among the beneficiaries were the families of fallen Community Watch Corps who lost their lives while protecting their communities from bandit attacks and victims who were displaced by the insecurity, as well as poor and vulnerable persons in the state.
The Coordinator of the KT-Cares, Nafi’u Muhammad Musa, said the cash assistance was provided as directed by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, aimed at alleviating the suffering the affected families and victims are facing.
Muhammad explained that 160 beneficiaries are to benefit from the assistance under phase one, assuring that the assistance will cover all part of the state
He explained that under the arrangement, families of fallen Community Watch Corps will receive 100, 000 Naira each while the poor and vulnerable persons will collect 50, 000 Naira each.

Muhammad said that the coordinating unit collaborates with the commandants of the Community Watch Corps and Zakkat and Wakaf Board to ensure that the assistance goes to the right beneficiaries.
He called on the beneficiaries to make proper use of the assistance provided to them to improve their life and support their families
In his speech, the General Manager of the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) in the state, Muhammad Dikko Abdul’aziz, said the Livelihood Support beneficiaries were selected from 8 Local Government areas in the state, assuring that the programme will cover all parts of the state
He listed the local governments as Jibia, Safana, Batsari and Dutsinma. Others include Dandume, Sabuwa, Kankara and Faskari.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries, Zainab Lawal Saulawa, noted that the assistance would enable her to set up a small-scale business. She said currently she is taking care of seven children because her husband is incapacitated.
