Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has commenced the disbursement of N3 billion to seasonal farmers across the kebbi State, Northwestern, Nigeria, under the Livelihood Support Grant.

While flagging off the disbursement yesterday at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris stressed “the readiness of his administration to provide necessary support to achieve the objectives of the programme.”

According to him, independent verification agents from the World Bank and staff of the Ministry of Budget would monitor the disbursement of the funds to the beneficiaries in order “to ensure all the targeted farmers benefitted and also ensure that the amount was not diverted for other unnecessary purposes.”

Governor Idris told the gathering that “the government had also procured 10,000 units of pumping machines at the cost of N700,000 per unit, which are going to be distributed to farmers in the state.”

He added that the minister for Agriculture and Natural Resources would be in the state tomorrow to launch the distribution of the pumping machines to the benefiting farmers.
