The Knights and Ladies of the Ancient and Noble Order of the Knights of St. John International in Nigeria have donated Six million Naira to flood victims in the country.

This was contained in a letter to the President, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Most Reverend Lucius Ugorji.

The letter signed by the Knights’ President, Major General Remy Uche, Rtd, revealed that the donation is for six Dioceses of the victims of flooding.

The move was in response to the devastating consequences of the flood currently ravaging many cities across Nigeria.

The Knight of St John International also called on the Nigerian Government to declare National Disaster, and expressed deep sympathy with all the victims of the flood disaster that recently ravaged many communities.

“We very much appreciate their pains which visibly manifested in the loss of lives, valuable property, and displacement of abode.” the letter said.

“The Order therefore called on the Nigerian Government to muster appropriate action to cushion the ravaging effects as well as invite international communities and humanitarian organizations for speedy interventions and aids’. said the President.

Besides seeking for aids, Catholic body urged the nation’s Government to seek for ways and means to forestall future occurrence as well as timely arresting of the ravaging effect should the menace seem intractable, said the Catholic body.
