Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello, has expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of Voters during Saturday’s state assembly elections across the state.
Governor Bello says the exercise was rancor-free throughout the State as the House of Assembly elections were conducted peacefully.
The Governor who voted at the Agassa community polling Centre (unit 11) in his Okene Country home, says the state assembly elections are of great importance to the grassroots because of the role of state Legislators in rural development as they provide legislative oversight for effective local government administration, which promotes good governance at the Community level.
The governor commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) for the adequate preparations for the conduct of the State House of Assembly election, adding that the elections were free, fair and credible.
Speaking at Okengwe community in Okene local government area, a Governorship aspirant in Kogi State and former Accountant General of the state, Alhaji Jibrin Momoh, says the House of Assembly elections were held in a transparent manner making the process seamless in Kogi state.
“So far so good , the election in Okene my local government is transparent, free and fair without any rancour or shortage of materials.
“The INEC officials came on time and the process commenced as scheduled,” he said
While appreciating the effort of the media and the civil society organisations in sensitizing electorate and the candidates that election is not a do or die affair, the governorship aspirant said the collaborative efforts of the media and civil society has contributed greatly to the peaceful conduct of state house of assembly elections across the state.
“Governor Yahaya Bello has also done a lot to ensure that there is absolute peace during election because after the elections, the social relation between the people will continue despite our political relations; we will still come together as brothers,” he added.
Some results of the elections have been announced by the national election Commission while the results of majority of the state assembly elections are pending as collation of results continues in some Local Government Areas as the election commission intensifies efforts to collate the final results.
