A group of female residents in Kubwa are repairing the bad road to their community. The area is located in the inner parts of Kubwa, a suburb in the nation’s capital.

According to a member of the group, Mrs Khadijat Kosoko, recalled that the project started in 2019. The road leading to Byazhin Across has been in a bad state for several years causing accidents.

“Seeing how pregnant women were having miscarriages, students falling from bikes, we came up with an idea to help the community fix the deplorable road.

“We started with filling potholes, a man saw us and offered to help with financial assistance. We decided to fix the whole road, using cement, stones and sand,” she said.

Kosoko disclosed they stayed on the road temporarily and asked for assistance from motorists and passers-by, adding that the money they received was surprising and they commenced work afterwards.

The group leader, Mrs Bola Shitta, a.k.a. Mama Kpomo said they had experienced countless challenges, from being cheated to people refusing to contribute and others insulting them.

“By the grace of God, if the government does not intervene or assist us, we will keep on doing the good work. We will go beyond this place and take the project further,” she said.

Mrs Bola Shitta commended the diligent women who volunteered for the project.
