Kwara Council Approves Major Projects to Drive Smart City

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State in North Central Nigeria has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a stronger and inclusive future through infrastructure and human capital development.

At its meeting on Thursday, the State Executive Council approved key construction projects across education, road, and sports sectors.

A highlight of the approvals is the construction of a four-storey Senate building for the Kwara State University of Education, Malete, under the Smart City project. The N11.9 billion contract, awarded to M C & T Limited, is expected to be completed within 15 months.

The Council also approved the construction of the 15-kilometre Ojoku–Ilemona Bypass in Oyun Local Government, valued at N6.4 billion and awarded to Construction Products Nig. Ltd., with a completion period of 19 months.

Similarly, a N2 billion contract was awarded to Wallyson Ventures for the construction of the Alabe–Oreke Road in Ifelodun, to be delivered within 12 months.

In addition, contractors have been mobilised for the rehabilitation of the Offa and Lafiagi Stadia, which had been inactive for several years.

The approvals were announced in a statement by the Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju.
