The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Team Kwara has emerged overall winner of the 2025 Presidential School Debate Championship in the Junior Secondary School Category, marking the State’s fourth consecutive national championship title.

In addition to this national triumph, Team Kwara also secured international recognition by winning the 2025 Asia Parliamentary Debate Championship held in Malaysia in December 2025.

These achievements further consolidate Kwara State’s reputation as a leading hub for academic excellence, intellectual development, and youth leadership.

This is contained in a statement by the Executive Chairman of the Board, Professor Raheem Adaramaja.

The Board Chairman attributed these sustained successes to the unwavering commitment and strategic investment of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

Professor Adaramaja said that “under the Governor’s leadership, Kwara State has strengthened teacher capacity, improved learning infrastructure, and institutionalised programmes that promote critical thinking, communication skills, and academic competitiveness at the basic education level.”

“Kwara SUBEB extends its profound appreciation to His Excellency for creating an enabling environment where learners can excel nationally and internationally. The Board also commends the dedication of teachers, debate coaches, administrators, and parents whose collective efforts contributed to these historic victories” he stated.

According to him, these accomplishments reaffirm Kwara State’s position as a benchmark for educational development in Nigeria and beyond.
