Kwara: Extend charity to less privileged – Emir charges Muslims

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has urged Muslims in Ilorin Emirate to extend charity and support to the less privileged throughout the month of Ramadan and enjoined them to commence this year’s fasting tomorrow (Thursday).

He spoke on Wednesday night at a joint meeting of the Ilorin Emirate Council and the Council of Ulama, held in the ancient palace of Ilorin.

This followed the physical sighting of the new crescent moon in Ilorin town on Wednesday night.

The Emir, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, confirmed that the new crescent moon was physically sighted in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital and a call was also put across to inform His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, for his further directives.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari thanked Allah for His mercies on the people of the Ilorin Emirate and humanity at large.

He urged the Muslim Ummah to use the month of Ramadan to move closer to Almighty Allah by engaging in good deeds, charity, humanitarian services and supplications, as well as seeking forgiveness at all times.

“As we commence this year’s Ramadan fasting, the annual Ramadan lecture (Tafsir) will commence at the Madrasatul Sheik Alimi inside the Emir’s Palace on Monday 27th March 2023, beginning from (09:00 GMT) 10am local time everyday,” the Emir added.

He, also used the occasion to congratulate Muslims for witnessing another glorious month of Ramadan, stressing that such privilege should be used to foster peaceful co-existence among religious adherents in the state.
