Kwara Government To Involve Traditional Rulers In Policy Implementation

Traditional rulers in Kwara State, North Central Nigeria have been assured of adequate involvement in the implementation of government policies and programmes with direct positive impacts on the citizenry.

The State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Abdullahi Abubakar Bata, gave the assurance in Ilorin when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari in his palace.

The Commissioner who was on a courtesy visit to identify with him and also seek his royal blessings as he assumes office disclosed the crucial role Royal Fathers play in the maintenance of peace in the state.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Emir for the warm reception accorded him during the visit.

He assured the Emir that he would always make himself available whenever the need arises, to deliberate on issues bothering the development of the state.

Responding, the Emir disclosed that he was very happy when he was informed that the new Commissioner was in his palace to visit him and discuss issues relating to the affairs of the state and traditional institutions.

The Emir, disclosed further that given the Commissioner’s antecedents in local government administration as a former Secretary to the Council, and former Chairman of Kaiama Local Government, he was optimistic that the commissioner would bring his vast experience to bear for the betterment of all and sundry.

The monarch said his doors are wide open to receive him anytime to discuss, and as well proffer possible solutions whenever the need arises.

He prayed for God’s guidance for the Commissioner as he drives government business forward.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Iyabo Modupe Adekeye, Director, of Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Fatima Opobiyi, among other top officials of the Ministry.
