2026 Hajj: First Batch of Kwara Pilgrims Return

The first batch of pilgrims from Kwara State returning from the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia have arrived safely at the Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, on Sunday.

The pilgrims numbering 560 were airlifted by MaxAir. They touched down at about 12:25 p.m. Nigerian time and were received by government officials, religious leaders, and family members

Officials of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board received the pilgrims, who were described as being in “good health and high spirits” after completing the sacred rites.

The Board’s Executive Secretary, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, confirmed that reception logistics were fully in place for a smooth disembarkation.

In an interview, Abdulkadir promised that the second batch and subsequent batches are expected to arrive in Ilorin on Tuesday and Friday this week and on Sunday next week.

KWASU Pro-Chancellor who is also the Chairman of the States Pilgrims Board, Prof. Mashood Mahmud-Jimba commended the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his backing, which was instrumental to the success of this year’s pilgrimage.

Kwara airlifted 1,714 pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj.
