Kwara State ADP Empowers 40 Farmers With Inputs And Tools

To improve maize production and enhance effective farming practices, Kwara State Agricultural Development Project (KWADP) has trained and empowered 40 farmers and field extension agents with agricultural tools and inputs.

The training which was organized by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) in partnership with the Kwara State government was meant to enlighten the farmers and extension officers on climatic resilient practices in maize production.

The state commissioner for agriculture and rural development, Malam AbdulLateef Alakawa, while speaking at the training, said the present administration was prioritizing empowerment of farmers, to enhance their efficiency in order to make them self-sufficient in maize production.

The commissioner, who was represented by the director of agriculture services, Mallam Alhassan Mohammed, disclosed that the programme is one of the series of trainings lined up for farmers in preparation for the new farming season in the state.

On her part, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Adejoke Raheem, said the training was organised to empower the youths, women and some extension agents.

Mrs Adejoke explained that the farmers would be supported with farm tools and starter pack inputs that could withstand any weather condition.

She advised the participants to ensure that the knowledge derived from the training is spread to other farmers.
