The First batch of intending pilgrims from Kwara State, North Central Nigeria totalling five hundred and thirty nine (539) have been airlifted to Saudi Arabia in the early hours of Sunday via Max Air for the commencement of the 2022 pilgrimage from the state.
The aircraft took off at exactly 5:40 in the morning Nigerian time from the Ilorin International Airport.
They would be transported straight to Medina, Western Saudi Arabia to commence their Hajj rites for this year’s pilgrimage.

They were seen off by the Special Assistant to the governor Religion, (Islam) Zubair Ibrahim Dan Maigoro, the Amirul Hajj, Dr Awa Akewusola, the board chairman, Sambo Zambaki, Executive Secretary, AbdulGaniyu Ahmed, other officials families and well wishes.
Dr. Awa urged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state and the nation at large and guide against violating all laid down rules and regulations of the Saudi authority.
He praised the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his utmost and prompt support for the board and the pilgrims and urged the pilgrims to pray fervently while in the holy land for peace and development to reign in the state and the nation.
Speaking on the inaugural flight, the Executive Secretary of the state pilgrims welfare board, Barrister Ahmed also commended the state governor, and particularly the Amirul Hajj, Awa Akewusola for ensuring a smooth take off of the inaugural flight.
1,500 seats were allocated to Kwara state by the National Hajj Commission for this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia
