The Kwara State Commissioner for Youth Development, Olabode Towoju, has flagged off the 50th anniversary of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ilorin, the state capital.
The flag-off ceremony of the golden jubilee, was marked with a road walk from the NYSC secretariat to challenge area, down to the Ministry of Youth Development and finally rounded off at the Government House.
The Commissioner, who doubles as the Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, reiterated that youths are very significant to the growth of the nation, and urged them to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the scheme.
According to him, “the youths are the reality of the nation, when the youths are neglected, the nation will be affected grossly.
“There are many opportunities in Kwara state where the youths can tap into, to get a lot of benefits to stand on their own.
“The government has created an enabling environment, where youths are given start-up capital to kickstart their innovations and businesses.
“The kwarapreneur 4.0 is ongoing, and I advise you to go online and register for it, because it is going to be free and fair”, Towoju stated.
Addressing the NYSC team at the Government House, the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, who received the corp members with open arms, advised them to do their primary assignment with diligence and create enough networking during their service year.
He laid emphasis on working diligently in their places of primary assignment, and advised them to be good ambassadors of their respective states of origin.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Jimba Christopher enjoined the corp members to keep the Nigerian flag flying and maintain high expectations as members serving in the state of harmony.
