Kwara state Government donates relief items to inmates

In a bid to enhance the welfare of inmates in Correctional Services in Kwara State, North Central Nigeria, the State Government under the leadership of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has again donated items worth millions of naira to the State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prince Mahe Aliyu Abdulkadir who stood in for the governor at the presentation ceremony, said the gesture came barely four months into the second term of the Governor in office.

Items such as toiletries, mattresses, blankets, sewing machines, solar lights, bathing soaps, detergents and bathroom slippers were donated to the inmates.

The Secretary to the State government reiterated that the donation is meant to strengthen the upkeep of inmates at the various Correctional Centres in the State.

Receiving the items at the Command’s headquarters, the Controller of Correctional Services, Kwara Command, Oyin Adeyinka Adebayo, who represented the Controller General, Haliru Nababa, appreciated the government for the gesture which he said, would go a long way to enhance the welfare of inmates.

Describing parental care as critical factor in curbing crime, the Controller noted that all hands must be on deck to ensure proper care of the inmates.
