Kwara State Governor Prioritises Safety, Welfare Of Corps Members

The Kwara State Governor, North Central Nigeria AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has assured Youth Corps members deployed to the state that their welfare and security would be given top priority.

The Governor said this during the swearing- in of 2024 Batch ‘A’, Stream II of Corps members deployed to the state at Yikpata Orientation Camp in Edu local government area.

Governor AbdulRazaq said his administration has been giving
adequate support and assistance to the management of NYSC in executing all its programmes in the state.

Represented by the Senior Adviser/ Counselor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, the Governor recalled saying; “This
time in 2019, this facility was an eyesore. We have greatly improved on the facility. As part of the state government’s efforts to make life more conducive and ensure adequate security on camp, our administration has recently
approved and commenced the perimeter fencing of the orientation camp.

“I wish to further pledge on behalf of the government and the good people of Kwara State, our continuous support to the welfare and security of corps members currently serving and newly deployed to Kwara State for the
national service.”

He enjoined the Corps members to always present themselves as worthy ambassadors of their various families and the NYSC scheme, by exhibiting the sterling qualities of “Service and Humility”, which is the motto of the NYSC.

The Governor charged them to be
purposefully involved in all camp activities such as the physical training, paramilitary drills, lectures, citizenship snd leadership training.

He said; “Dear corps members, you are to adopt a conscientious approach to the various activities of the orientation course in order to be able to face the numerous challenges of the assignments ahead. You should not allow anything to affect your commitment to achieve the expected qualities of future leaders, which the NYSC scheme is designed to prepare you for.

” I urge you to justify the confidence reposed in you as leaders of this great nation, by making patriotism discipline, good conduct, honesty and hard-work your watchwords, throughout the duration of the course and thereafter.”

This is even as the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr Onifade Olaoluwa, hailed the Governor for the provision of meal subsidy for the Corps members, in addition to the provision of 1,000 mattresses for the scheme’s camp and the fumigation of the orientation camp.

Mr Olaoluwa said; “I want to express our profound gratitude to Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq for his assistance and support for NYSC. The support is highly commendable and worthy of emulation by all leaders.”

He called for additional support and speedy completion of the perimeter fencing for greater efficiency at the camp.

The Chief Judge of the State, Justice Biodun Adebara, represented by Justice Tauhid Umar administered the oath of office on the 2,233 Corps members that registered at the camp.

In her remarks, the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hajiya Nafisat Buge corroborated the submission of Governor AbdulRazaq by assuring the Corps members that their welfare and security remained top priorities of the state government.
