Labour Leaders must be patriotic – Information Minister

The Nigerian Labour leaders have been urged to demonstrate a high level of patriotism and understanding for the growth of the Nigerian economy.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Mohammed Idris Malagi stated this while reacting to the national strike that was embarked upon by the Labour leaders over the alleged attacks on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero in Imo state.

It would be recalled that the strike declared by organised labour was suspended on Wednesday evening, 16 November 2023 after two days of the action.

According to the Minister, the national strike will have adverse effects on the Nigerian economy as various economic measures of government are disrupted with strike actions

He stated that the government has taken measures to address the alleged attack on the Labour leaders as the Nigerian police have commenced investigating the alleged atrocities.

The Minister called on the Labour leaders to collaborate with the security agencies on the ongoing investigations.
