The Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation has disclosed its 1,234-member Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council chaired by Mohammed Zarewa.

The National Organising Secretary, Mr. Clement Ojukwu, stated this at a Pre-Campaign Press Conference, in Abuja, on Wednesday.

Further reports revealed that among the many on the list, the Director General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, Dr. Doyin Okupe, kept his position as DG of the PCC. Okupe unveiled the list and added that the council would focus on issue-based campaigns.

“As the Labour party begins the campaign for the 2023 elections, the party and its candidates will remain committed to honest, clean, and issue-based engagements with the Nigerian people.

“We seek a mandate to turn around the fortunes of this great country.

“The patriotic zeal, vibrancy, creativity, and shining example, have fuelled the ascendancy of the Labour Party presidential candidate as well as the discipline, character, and decency of the Obidient movement.

“The capacity of the Obidient movement has rapidly evolved into the most noteworthy voluntary political movement in Nigerian history.”

Okupe noted that the “empirical polls, from the hearts and minds of those who are publicly on the opposing side, placed Peter Obi, clearly and far ahead of the pack, as the right man for the transformational leadership Nigeria needs.”

The statement added, “The Labour Party candidate is not an Igbo presidency movement, but a Nigerian project anchored on capacity, competence, and character.

“This clarification has become necessary for posterity’s sake.

“Ohanaeze enjoins other ethnic groups like Afenifere, Middle-Belt Forum and Pan Niger Delta Forum to insist that the rotational presidency between the North and South is a must for equity and fair play and that a Southern President should succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.”

Okupe also named the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, as Chairman of the Advisory Council of the PCC; Osaleka Obaze is the Deputy Director General and General Manager of the Campaign; Alhaji Yusuf Bello Maitama, the Deputy Director General (North), and Denzel Kentebe, the Deputy Director General (South).

While addressing the media, Okupe explained that the Obidient Movement transcends ethnic and religious bias because Nigerians are tired of being deceived by career politicians who have run out of ideas.
