The House of Representatives has commended the Nigerian Government, the Kebbi State Government, political leaders, security agencies, local vigilantes, traditional rulers and community leaders for their roles in rescuing the 24 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

It also urged the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force and all Security & Intelligence Agencies to carry out clearance operations at the Soda Forest, Bagudo L.G.A, hills in Suru L.G.A and generally the entire Kebbi State to bring an end to banditry in the State.

The House called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) to strengthen intelligence coordination and cross-border surveillance along the Nigeria–Benin Republic corridor especially within the Bagudo L.G.A, Kebbi State axis.

The Lawmakers urged the Nigerian Government to also provide adequate compensation to the families of the slain officers of Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service and Nigeria Police Force.

The resolutions followed the adoption of a motion of Urgent Public Importance titled “Attack And Killing Of Three (3) Nigeria Immigration Service Personnel At Their Bakin Ruwa Outpost, Bagudo L.G.A, Kebbi State And Urgent Need For Clearance Operations In Soda Forest, Bagudo L.G.A, Suru Hills, Suru L.G.A And The Entire Kebbi State”, sponsored by Mr Bello A. Ka’oje, at the plenary.

Leading the debate on the motion, Mr. Ka’oje said that “Bagudo L.G.A, Kebbi State shares an external boundary with Benin Republic and hosts a Nigeria Immigration Service outpost at Bakin Ruwa, a Nigeria Customs Service outpost at Maje and a number of Nigeria Police Posts in various parts of the L.G.A.”

The House further notes that in most recent times, Bagudo L.G.A and Kebbi State as a whole has witnessed attacks by armed bandits in different parts of Kebbi State amongst other states of the Federation.

It was Informed that on Thursday 27th November, 2025, the Lakurawa bandits attacked a Nigeria Immigration Service outpost at Bakin Ruwa which led to the death of three (3) personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

The said attack is similar to an earlier one on a Nigeria Customs Service outpost at Maje in the same Bagudo L.G.A on the 10th November, 2025 which left one (1) Customs Officer dead.

“Also Informed: that on the 19th October, 2025, bandits attacked a Nigeria Police outpost at Maje, Bagudo L.G.A, Kebbi State and killed one (1) Police Officer,” the motion said.

Mr Ka’oje noted that the House is worried that there seems to be an attempt by the Lakurawa Bandits to make the Soda Forest, Bagudo L.G.A, Kebbi State a hideout and base from where they will carry out their destructive activities.

Also worried that the bandits are similarly making the hills in Suru L.G.A, Kebbi State another operational base where they hide their victims when they kidnap them from other parts of Kebbi North.

Alarmed that by the worsening security situation in the once relatively peaceful Kebbi State which needs to be tackled immediately in order to prevent further escalation of banditry activities and attacks,” he said.

Mr Ka’oje also said that there is an urgent need for a joint clearance operation especially by the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police & other Security Agencies to clear the Lakurawa Bandits from the Soda Forest, Bagudo L.G.A and the hills in Suru L.G.A and to generally prevent bandits from setting up camps in any part of Kebbi State.

The House mandated the House Committees on Air Force, Army, Defense, Police Affairs, National Security & Intelligence, Interior, Customs and Legislative Compliance to ensure compliance to the resolutions

It therefore observed a minute silence in honour of the deceased officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force all killed during various attacks by Lakurawa bandits at the different locations in Bagudo L.G.A, Kebbi State.
