Major General Chibuisi assumes command of Joint Task Force

The 13th Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) Major General Gold Chibuisi has taken over command of the Theatre of Operation.

The colourful ceremony took place at the Command Headquarters in Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital.

In his valedictory speech, the outgone Theatre Commander Major General Ibrahim Ali appreciated officers and men of the Theatre and all critical stakeholders of Operation HADIN KAI for the role they played in achieving the successes recorded during his time as Theatre Commander.


He therefore, urged the troops to give the same level of support and synergy to the new Theatre Commander, General Gold Chibuisi.

Major General Ibrahim Ali who stated that the ‘Threat in the Theatre has drastically reduced’, also charged troops to sustain the ongoing onslaught on vestiges of terrorist elements in the region.

He called on the troops to continue to conduct themselves professionally at all times and avoid indulging in any act that will bring the Nigerian Army to disrepute.

Prior to the handing and taking over the ceremony, a send-forth ceremony was held in honour of the outgone Theatre Commander and other posted-out senior officers of the theatre at the Theatre Command Officers’ Mess.

The Governor of Borno State, Babagana  Zulum, who was represented by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Danjuma Ali expressed immense appreciation to the outgone Theatre Commander for his efforts in restoring peace to the North East region.

The new Theatre Commander Major General Gold Chibuisi stated that his predecessor has laid a good foundation and achieved a lot, therefore he assured of his readiness to consolidate the successes and operational gains of the Theatre geared towards achieving the operational mandate of the command.

Meanwhile, the new Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Major General Ibrahim Ali has appealed for cooperation from all members of the MNJTF to achieve the mandate of the task force.
He stated this when he assumed the Command of the Multinational Joint Task at a handover ceremony at Camp Farcha in Ndjemena, Chad on Friday 14 July 2023.

General Ali stated that his command style will involve inclusivity, ensuring that everyone is carried along.

Earlier, in his valedictory address, the former Force Commander, Major General Gold Chubuisi, highlighted the successes achieved during his three-month tenure, both in kinetic and non-kinetic aspects.

Among his several achievements, General Chibuisi mentioned the successful clearance operations of terrorist hideouts, the neutralization of key terrorist leaders and the rescue of 56 hostages during Operation HARBIN ZUMA.

He further state that various quick impact projects in Chad and Niger Republics were handed over to the local communities. Accordingly, Major General Chibuisi urged the new Force Commander to continue the momentum and sustain the offensive against adversaries.

Major General Ibrahim Ali was the erstwhile Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, where he performed creditably well to incapacitate Boko Haram terrorists in North East Nigeria. He will be serving as tenth Force Commander since the reorganisation of MNJTF in 2015.
