Thus, the equities market traded on Tuesday with mixed sentiments however, ending the day’s trading session with a 1bp gain.
Consequently, the benchmark index close at 49,445.31 points, 5.1 basis points or 0.01% higher than yesterday’s 49,440.21 basis points.
Similarly, the Market capitalisation rose by 0.01 percent or ₦3.22bn to close at ₦26.67trn from Monday’s ₦26.67trn.
The total volume of trades stood at 147.59 million units, valued at ₦2.39 billion, and exchanged in 3,323 deals where GUARANTY TRUST HOLDING COMPANY PLC was the most traded stock by volume at 35.82 million units, while MTN NIGERIA COMMUNICATIONS PLC was the most traded stock by value at ₦860.43 million.
Compared to Monday’s market activities which showed a total of 67.37m shares valued at ₦1.48bn were exchanged in 3,386 deals where FBN HOLDINGS PLC led the volume chart with 9.67m units traded while SEPLAT Energy PLC led the value chart in deals worth ₦615.12m.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was negative as 14 stocks lost relative to 11 gainers.
Leading the decliners table is TOTALENERGIES MARKETING NIGERIA PLC which sold at ₦234.50k per share but closed today at ₦211.10 per share, losing ₦23.40 or 9.98 percent.
Followed by LEARN AFRCA PLC with a previous selling price of ₦2.06, closing today at ₦1.86, thereby lolosing 0.20k or 9.71 percent.
While HONEYWELL FLOUR MILL PLC declined from ₦2.46k per share to ₦2.26k per share by 0.20k or 8.13 percent.
Conversely, R T BRISCOE PLC led the gainers by gaining from 0.30k per share to 0.33k per share by 0.03k or 10.00 percent.
FBN HOLDINGS PLC trailed with a previous selling price of ₦10.00 and a new price of ₦10.50, gaining 0.50k or 5.00 percent.
And LINKAGE ASSURANCE PLC rose from 0.46k per share to 0.48k per share by 0.02k or 4.35 percent.
Sectoral performance was mixed, as the Oil & Gas (-2.3%) and Consumer Goods (-0.1%) indices closed lower, while the Banking (+0.2%) and Insurance (+0.2%) indices recorded gains. The Industrial Goods index closed flat.
