The Super Eagles B team of Nigeria will square up against the Black Galaxies of Ghana on Sunday for a chance to qualify for the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN), taking place in Algeria.

The first leg of the encounter against the Black Galaxies is scheduled to take place at the Cape Coast Stadium at 5pm (Nigerian Time).

The CHAN tournament is exclusively reserved for players plying their trade in their country’s domestic leagues, unlike the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, which is free for all.

The build-up to Sunday’s fierce football rivalry in Cape Coast has been eclectic, with Nigeria coach Salisu Yusuf, looking to get a result away from home.

“The game against Ghana will be tough and we have to be at our best to be able to get a result.” Coach Yusuf stated while speaking to NFF TV ahead of Sunday’s tie.

“We want to be at CHAN and try to win it, that is why we are going all out to ensure that we get a result in Ghana and return home to finish the job. It’s a Herculean task and we are up for it.”

For Black Galaxies coach Annon Walker, qualifying ahead of  Nigeria, just like its senior Men’s team did in the race to the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is the mission that must be achieved.

“We are playing Nigeria on Sunday and I must say we are ready for the game,” Walker said in an interview.

“It will be a tough game but we are prepared and I am confident that we will qualify for the CHAN tournament next year.”

Super Eagles B will be looking to beat the Black Galaxies of Ghana when both teams clash for a spot at the 7th African Nations Championship in Algeria early next year.

The return leg is scheduled for Saturday, 3rd September at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The winner on aggregate will qualify for Algeria 2023.
