Mechanisation Will Attract Youths To Farming–Firm

Mr Don Ekesiobi, Group Chairman, Eurobase Consult Limited, says agricultural mechanisation is essential to attracting youths to farming.

 

Ekesiobi, who communicated this while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, said such move enhance food and nutrition security in the country.

 

Eurobase Consult Limited is an agro Nigeria company, in partnership with 20 International Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

 

Ekesiobi said that mechanised farming was important in enhancing food production.

 

He said that mechanisation would encourage youths in the country to embrace farming and boost food security in the country.

 

Many youths do not see farming as a business; but if they know what farming is all about, especially mechanised farming, they will be more attracted to farm.’’

 

Ekesiobi said that the group’s target was mechanisation as well as technology to tackle food inflation in the country.

 

He said that government could not do it alone without private participation; hence, the need the to organise a stakeholders engagement targeted to resolve the food crisis in Nigeria.

 

Ekesiobi said that the Federal Government was collaborating with the company to ensure farmers had access to mechanised farming in the country.

 

There is need for us to come together as a nation to brainstorm and provide immediate solutions in the form of short and long – term interventions,” he said.

 

Ekesiobi called on Nigerians to partner with stakeholders on agro mechanisation to ensure sustainable food security.
