Meshref, Assar Spearhead Egypt’s ITTF Mixed World Cup Charge
African Cup champion Omar Assar and six-time African champion Dina Meshref will lead the eight-man Egyptian contingent to the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup, taking place in Chengdu, China.
Egypt as African champions will represent the continent in the 18-team championships from December 4th – 10th. Assar who recently jumped to 19th in the latest ITTF Ranking will spearhead the men’s team which include veteran Ahmed Saleh, Mohamed El-Beiali and southpaw Youssef Abdel-Aziz.
In the formidable lineup of world-class talent released by ITTF, Meshref will captain the Egyptian women’s team including the Alhodaby twins – Mariam and Marwa as well as Yousra Helmy.
According to ITTF, the excitement has been ignited surges as the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup Chengdu 2023 heralds the return of the iconic World Cup, this time under an innovative mixed team format that champions inclusivity and gender equality.
