Minimum wage: Kwara State Governor assures civil servants

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has assured Civil Servants in the state of his preparedness to pay the new minimum wage.

He made this known in his address at a social function organized by the forum of the state Permanent Secretaries held at the Council for Arts and Culture, Ilorin.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affair, Architect Aliyu Mohammed Sefudeen, the Gov affirmed that the minimum wage was a law and his government would not disobey the law.

“For those who have been following keenly, you would have heard from my( budget) speech that the minimum wage is captured.

“The minimum wage is a law and government of Kwara State will obey the law,” he stressed.

Abdulrahman reiterated the commitment of his administration to take appropriate steps to ensure that the state was at the top in the comity of states in Nigeria.

The governor also pledged his commitment towards the provision of a conducive working environment and improved welfare for the state workers to ensure ease of doing work.

The State Head of Service, Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole in her remark, emphasised the need for mutual working relationships amongst all and sundry in order to move the state forward.
