The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Iman Sulaiman-Ibrahim has held strategic engagements with leading gender advocates and senior development partners to strengthen collaboration on women’s empowerment and social development.

The Minister held an engagement forum with the ECOWAS Commissioner for Human Development and Social Affairs, Fatima Sow Sarr, and the Director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, Antón Leis.

The discussions at the strategic engagement focused on forging deepened cooperation at the intersection of political leadership and women’s economic empowerment.

The Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim presented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration’s vision to transform 50 million lives through coordinated social and economic interventions.

She highlighted the RHII 774 initiative and the Happy Woman platform as structured vehicles designed to harmonise empowerment efforts across all 774 Local Government Areas, ensuring that women, who contribute significantly to the nation’s economy, have access to opportunity and measurable outcomes.

The dialogue underscored the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable progress while emphasising that government, development institutions and civil society must operate within a complementary ecosystem to achieve shared national targets.

The Minister also stressed that women’s political participation must remain high-impact and substantive, noting that representation should translate into influence, policy direction and long-term institutional change.

The engagement reflects a renewed and continued commitment to building systems where women not only occupy space but shape outcomes.
