Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora, while reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to religious freedom, peaceful coexistence, and national unity.

In his Christmas message, Ambassador Tuggar described the season as a period of reflection, compassion, and renewal, noting that these values align with Nigeria’s rich religious and cultural diversity.

“The celebration of Christmas presents an opportunity for Nigerians to recommit themselves to dialogue, mutual respect, and collective responsibility in sustaining peace and stability within their communities,” he said.

The Minister emphasised that the Federal Government remains resolute in strengthening national institutions to protect all religious adherents, promote social cohesion, and ensure harmonious coexistence across the country.

“The safety, dignity, and rights of Nigerians of all faiths, both within the country and in the diaspora, remain a central priority of government policy and diplomatic engagement,” he reiterated.

According to Ambassador Tuggar, Nigeria is firmly rooted in the principles of freedom of worship and mutual respect among its people.

“We will continue our efforts to deepen interfaith understanding and prevent discrimination or marginalisation on the basis of religious belief,” he assured citizens.

As Christians mark the Christmas season, Ambassador Tuggar called on Nigerians to embrace unity, patience, and hope, stressing that the nation’s strength lies in its diversity and shared destiny.
