Ministry of Justice immortalises retiring Permanent Secretary

Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has named the Ministry’s e-Library after the Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Dayo Toba Apata who will retire from service on the 25th of July 2021.

Mr Malami announced this during the send forth on retirement and handing over ceremony in honour of the Perm-Sec, who is bowing out of service on the attainment of the compulsory retirement age of 60 years.

The minister also said that the retiring Permanent Secretary deserves national honour in view of his meritorious services to the nation.

“Let me place on record, the commendable consistency of the Solicitor General and Perm-Sec in the implementation of policies and programmes of the ministry.

“I can say with pride that the ministry of Justice has been lifted to higher grounds and has become the envy of others, the Minister said and added that; Apata has served in various capacities where he distinguished himself in the discharge of his duties.

Mr Malami said in his working interaction with Mr Apata over the years, he found him to be resourceful, committed and patriotic in the discharge of his duties.

He added that the Ministry would miss Apata’s repository of knowledge on vital aspects of law.

In his speech, Mr Dayo Apata thanked Malami for projecting him to the world and giving him free hand in the discharge of his duties as Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice.

“I became the first Solicitor General of Federation and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice to be conferred with the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, with the cooperation and support of the AGF.

“Malami is my God sent and I remain eternally grateful to him for the confidence he reposed on me, he said.
