Muslim Faithful In Kaduna State Celebrates Eid Al-Fitr

Muslims in Kaduna State have joined others to the joyous occasion of Eid al- fitr, an event marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan fast.

The festival is one of the grandest festivals of the Islamic religion which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan during which Muslims observe fast from dawn to dusk for a month and engage in religious activities and acts of spiritual reflection.

Muslims celebrate Eid by ending their fast, thanking Allah for offering them health and resistance during Ramadan, wearing new clothes, preparing grand feasts, meeting their loved ones, doing charity, and more.

A renowned Muslim scholar with Markas in Kaduna, Shiek Nasir Muhammad in an interview said that one of the significance of the Sallah festival is to give out zakatul fitr, a charity given before the commencement of the Eid prayers meant to wipe away all the minor sins committed during the fasting period.

It is also part of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him to perform a spiritual bath on the morning of Eid, eat even number of dates, praise Allah by making supplications on the way to the Eid ground for prayers. He added that, Muslims are also encouraged wear new clothes, change the routes taken to mosques while returning home and visit family, friends and neighbors, as well as exchange gifts,” he said.

According to some Muslims, the celebration give them the opportunity to thank Allah for the month long fasting which brings prosperity, harmony, and peace.

Malam Haroon Isa said the period made him to refrain from all negative thoughts which brought him closer to Allah, hence, the need to celebrate the great feast

Another resident, Rahila Musa expressed gratitude to Allah for sparing her live to witness the sallah celebration.

According to her, “some did not make it to the end of the Ramadan, they died while others were not healthy to perform the fast, so it is necessary for me to celebrate the occasion.”

On this day, all Muslims will be proceeding to the mosques wearing new clothes and afterwards prepare delicacies, do charity and wish their family and friends Eid Mubarak.
