Nasarawa Assembly passes revenue harmonisation bill into law

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed into law a Bill to provide for the Harmonisation and Collection of All Revenues in the State and Local Government as well.

The speaker of the House, Balarabe Abdullahi, announced the passage of the bill into law after the House adopted the report of the House Standing Committee on Finance and Appropriation on the bill presented by the Chairman of the committee, Hon Aliyu Dogara during the House proceedings in the State Assembly complex in Lafia.

The speaker appreciated members of the committee for a job well done and other members for their contributions toward the success of the bill while restating the House’s continued determination to work judiciously for the development of the state.

“We have cut short our recess to attend to this important issue as this bill is paramount to our people and the state at large.

“As the bill, if assented to will boost revenue collection and will also block leakages as well as ensure transparency in revenue collection in the state

“A Bill for a Law to Provide for the Harmonization and Collection of All Revenues( Taxes, Duties, Levies, Rates, FeesĀ  Charges ETC) Due to the State and Local Governments inĀ  Nasarawa State and the Establishment of Relevant Administrative Structures and Other Purposes Connected Therewith read the third term and passed, “ he said.

Balarabe Abdullahi also assured Governor Abdullahi Sule of the House’s continued commitment to synergize with him to take the state to the next level of development.

The speaker directed the clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for the governor’s assent.

Meanwhile, the Majority Leader of the House Tanko Tunga moved a motion for the passage of the bill into law.

The Minority Leader Danladi Jatau, seconded the motion for the bill to read the third term.

The House unanimously passed the bill into law.
