The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa has matriculated more than 15,000 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, marking a significant increase in enrolment.
The matriculation ceremony was held at the Muhammadu Buhari Hall within the institution, as part of activities to formally admit the new students into various academic programmes.
The event marked a milestone in the Polytechnic’s ongoing expansion and strategic transformation as a leading institution for technical and vocational education.
Addressing the students, the Rector, Dr Hauwa Tanko Mohammad, described the moment as pivotal not only for the students but also for Nigeria’s drive towards innovation, entrepreneurship, and industrial self-reliance.
“Nigeria’s development depends on skilled manpower, and the Polytechnic continues to serve as a hub for middle-level manpower, innovation, and industrial growth,” she said.

Dr. Hauwa highlighted that the institution now offers 22 academic programmes across its schools, reflecting efforts to align the curriculum with international standards and labour market demands.
She further explained that the expansion in carrying capacity was supported by the recruitment of additional academic and non-academic staff, aimed at improving mentorship, service delivery, and overall quality of training.
The Polytechnic has also invested in infrastructure to accommodate the rising student population. New hostel facilities and additional boreholes have been constructed, ensuring adequate accommodation and water supply, and creating a conducive environment for learning.

“Discipline, integrity, and hard work remain the core values of the Polytechnic,” she stated, urging students to focus on their studies and cultivate networks that will support personal and professional growth.
She encouraged the matriculated students to build their skills, develop relationships, and position themselves to be globally competitive, noting that the modern world rewards competence, innovation, and collaboration.
With these developments, the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa continues to play a central role in Nigeria’s economic development, youth empowerment, and industrial capacity building, solidifying its position as a leading centre for technical excellence.
