Nasarawa State Lawmaker Seeks Support For Women In Politics

Chairman, of Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs, Hon Hajara Danyaro has urged Nigerian women to support women aspiring for political positions to enable them to succeed and contribute positively to the development of society.

Hon Danyaro, who is a female member in the House representing Nasarawa Central Constituency made the call while playing host to National Council for Women Society, NCWS, Nasarawa State Chapter at the Assembly complex in Lafia.

She urged women to actively participate in politics in their interest and for the overall development of the country.

Let’s actively participate in politics to contribute positively to the development of the society,

“The problem is that if you see a woman/ women contesting for political positions, it is the same woman/ women that will say we will not support and vote for you.

“Why are we doing this to ourselves and we have been complaining that women don’t get more positions/ appointments,” she said.

According to her, Let’s support each other based on merit, and competency as well as share joy and pain with each other at all times

Hon Danyaro assured of her readiness to continue to be the voice of the women as well as protect their interests while performing her duties.

She appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for appointing women into government positions while appealing for more appointments of women in that direction.

The lawmaker called on the women to continue to support Governnor Abdullahi Sule’s administration to succeed.

Besides, Hon Danyaro assured of her commitment to look into the challenges facing the women in the state.

Meanwhile, the President of the NCWS, Nasarawa State, Mrs. Mary Meshi, said that the visit was to congratulate Hon Danyaro on her election and inauguration as a member of the state legislature.

 

She also said that the visit was to identify with the lawmaker and assure her of their support at all times.

We want to thank God for your election into the state Assembly.

“You are the second woman to be here after Hon Mary Enwongulu, the former Minority Leader.

“We believe in your capacity and capability to represent us and other women well,” she said.

The president urged Hon Danyaro to make a law that would add value to women and other people of the state.

NCWS are happy to have you because we believe that you will make a law that will add value to women and other people,” she noted

She appealed for the appointment of more women into Government positions.

We also want to appeal to the state government to build our secretariat for effective service delivery,” she added.

The courtesy call featured the presentation of a plague by the NCWS as a mark of honor and recognition to the lawmaker.
