As the March 11 gubernatorial election draws nearer, the governorship candidate of the Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Maidoya, has promised to prioritize women’s inclusion and welfare, if given the mandate to govern.
Maidoya stated this during a meeting in Lafia, the state capital, with the NNPP women leaders in the thirteen local government areas of the state.
He said the meeting was aimed at intimating to them some of his plans for the advancement of women, preparations for the upcoming election, and the need for them to mobilize the votes of women from their various local government areas for the party.
‘Women are real voters when it comes to elections, as they can endure everything to make sure they vote for their candidate,’ he noted.
Responding, on behalf of others, the women leader for Obi local government area, Hajia Amina Usman, thanked Maidoya for including women in all his activities, while further urging her colleagues to mobilize women’s votes to ensure the party’s victory come the February 25 and March 11 elections.
The highlight of the meeting was the distribution of wrappers and cash disbursement to each of the women leaders.
