The Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) has postponed the local council elections, scheduled for February 27.
The state electoral body has now proposed April or May as the new date for the council elections.
Chairman of the commission, Barrister Ayuba Wanda revealed this after meeting with the state leadership of the Inter-party Advisory Council in Lafia.
Wanda gave the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic, logistics, and administrative challenges as major reasons for the postponement.
State chairman of Inter-party Advisory Council, Cletus Ogah, appreciated the NASIEC boss for the steps taken but insisted that the council will not accept a caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the LGs in the state.
