Nasarawa to spend N669.7m on LG polls

Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) says that it would spend N669.7million to conduct the local government election which is scheduled to take place on the 6th of October in the state.

The Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Ayuba Wandai, stated this while briefing newsmen in Lafia, the State Capital.

He said the commission is set to exercise her statutory responsibility of organizing, undertaking, and supervising election into local government councils as enshrined in the 1999 constitution as amended and other relevant laws.

He also said “the commission has from today lifted the ban on the campaign while advising interested aspirants to play the game by its rules. Forms of nomination papers shall be obtained between Thursday 22nd to Tuesday 27th July 2021 and to be delivered on completion, at NASIEC Headquarters Lafia between Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd, August 2021.”

The commission also set Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th July 2021 for the conduct of party primaries including resolution of disputes arising from the primaries for both Chairmanship and Councillorship elections.

The chairman has assured of the commission’s readiness to conduct free, credible, and transparent elections.
