NASFAT advocates artificial intelligence for missionaries

The NASFAT Missionary Institute (NMI) has urged Nigerians, particularly religious missionaries, to acquire essential knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to effectively position themselves for opportunities in the digital space.
A renowned scholar of Artificial Intelligence and Vice Chancellor of Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu stated this during the virtual seminar of the Institute while giving his lecture on the topic: ‘Artificial Intelligence: Its Implication on Islamic Faith.’
He said AI has had gross impact on different fields of human endeavour, which implied that the Islamic Missionary also needs to look into key areas of the AI to improve his Da’awah work.

He discussed AI to be the development of computer system to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, saying it could be used to enhance the creativity of humans, but cannot replace it, recommending its use with human intellect as a regulator for it.

Navigating the digital space
The University don urged Muslims to see the AI as an enabler to serve Allah more, as the AI makes other life activities easier, leaving more time for Muslims to perform their religious activities.
“The illiterates of this generation will not be those who can neither read nor write, but those who cannot navigate the digital space, especially as it relates with Artificial Intelligence,” he said.
Professor Aibinu allayed concerns that Artificial Intelligence could be Jinn or Dajjal; “There is nothing under Artificial Intelligence except science and mathematics,” he stated.
He urged Muslims at large to improve their emotional quotient skills, judgment and decision making skill ( real or AI generated), develop interpersonal skill, Leadership, diversity and cultural intelligence skill and to embrace change.
