National Diaspora Day: Commission Partners With Ebonyi State To Bring Investors

The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Mrs Abike Dabiri- Erewa and Ebonyi State Diaspora Focal Point Officer, Barrister Valentine Okike-uzo  have synergized on how to bring investors who will make the economy of Ebonyi State in Southeast Nigeria to boom.

This was  agreed on during the just concluded National Diaspora Day 2023,  at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The NIDCOM Boss said it is good for all  relevant authorities to work together with the commission to better the diplomatic tiles between Nigeria and the world.

She described Ebonyi State Diaspora Focal Point Officer Barrister Valentine Okike-uzo as a hardworking young man who means well for the people of the State, hence his movement on how to make Ebonyi State one of the best in the world in terms of economic development.

The chairman NIDCOM also described Nigerians as one of the most resilient, hardworking, intelligent and resourceful people in the Diaspora. noting that their contribution is key to national development.

The theme for this year is: “Consolidating Diaspora Engagement for National Development”, which focuses on galvanising the skills, network and experiences of the Diaspora as indispensable assets to bolster Nigeria’s growth.

According to the NIDCOM boss, this year’s event will be the fifth in its series since the establishment of the Commission, adding that it will be a two-day ceremony unlike previous ones.

She warned that it would be tragic if the nation failed to tap into the immense potentials of Nigerians abroad.

Dabiri-Erewa observed that Nigeria’s greatest resource is not its material resources but its human resources.
She said.

The abundant talent, ambitions and energy of our people; qualities that we carry about with us everywhere we go in the world is unmatched.

“Over 17 million Nigerians are performing feats, internationally in the fields of Education, medicine, health, sports, leadership and politics, skills, knowledge, network and experiences are indispensable assets which can be harnessed to bolster Nigeria’s progress and development,” Dabiri-Erewa informed.

On his part, the Ebonyi State Diaspora Focal Point Officer Barrister Valentine Okike-Uzor promised on behalf of Ebonyi people that he was going to play his own roles so that Ebonyi State woul be part and parcel of NIDCOM in ensuring that the state is recognized internationally in Education, Medicine, sports, skills, Knowledge and in Economic growth.
