National Orientation Agency, ALGON Collaborate on Peace Advocacy

The National Orientation Agency NOA in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria has Collaborated with the Association of Local Government Of Nigeria ALGON on Peace Building Advocacy.

The Collaboration was also to enable the NOA and Local Government Area Chairmen to have an understanding with each other to link NOA to their Various local Government Staff for proper reorientation on the need to have positive Attitudinal change towards their workplace.

The NOA State Coordinator in the State, Elder Mathew Odonor disclosed this during the courtesy visit to the State Chairman of ALGON in the State, Dr Moses Ogodoali Nome in Abakaliki the State Capital.

“We are here to first of all congratulate you on your one year in the office, it was one year of monumental achievements. We believe that if we have seen you, we have seen all the 13 local Government Chairmen and that is why we are here, Odonor said.

The State Coordinator said the National Orientation Agency NOA is saddled with the responsibility of standing in the gap between the Government and the people.

Odonor informed that NOA has offices and staff in 774 Local Government Areas across Nigeria.

“We are asking for the understanding that NOA Staff should be accommodated and allowed to do their work of sensitizing the people, he said.

“Peace Building Advocacy is one of our core mandates but we cannot achieve any success without your great support and synergy, hence the need to cooperate with our staff in your various LGAs,” he informed.

In his response, the State Chairman of the Association of  Local Governments Of Nigeria ALGON, Dr Moses Ogodoali Nome appreciated the partnership visit. He pledged unalloyed support for the NOA to achieve its aims in the State, especially to sensitize some workers of different Local Government Areas whom he alleged are committing fraud because they don’t go to work but yet receive a salary every month.

Nome promised to support NOA to sensitize some politicians who see public money and properties as what can be looted into their personal Treasury.

“No, they must be sensitized, so that they will start to see and manage public things as they were there just as custodians”

“As Politicians, we need to be checkmated and guided and I would like NOA to from time to time set agenda for us,Ogodoali said.

ONE YEAR ACHIEVEMENTS 

Ogodoali added that the Crops Local Government Chairmen in administration right now have done a lot in terms of Human Capital Development and infrastructure too.

“I lead by example, I come to work every day to discharge my official duties even sometimes on weekends, in most cases, I will not meet staff in the office. People should be sensitized to take Government work seriously, he warned.

He urged NOA to start organizing Quarterly reorientation workshops for workers at the Local Government level.
