The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Anambra State branch has sued for synergy with law enforcement agencies in the country.

A member of the Awka Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association Professor Ken Nwuba called on the Bar, Bench and law enforcement agencies to synchronize their activities for effective justice administration in Nigeria.

The legal expert made the call at the 26th Bar Week by the Nigerian Bar Association Awka titled, ‘The Bar, The Bench and law enforcement agencies: Time For Synergy In Nigeria’s Justice Administration.’

According to Professor Nwuba, the synergy among the three bodies should aim at promoting justice, equity and fairness in the nation’s body polity.

He called for unbiased judicial practice in the country especially at the ongoing Presidential election petition tribunal, so that the judiciary will assert itself as the last hope of the masses without which the principles of natural justice or other eventualities will take effect to correct the pervading injustice in Nigeria.

Fair and equitable justice

In his remarks, the chairman Awka branch of the Nigerian Bar Association Mr Ken Nwanna, said he expects the nation’s judiciary to exhibit justice in the ongoing Presidential election petition tribunal in Nigeria.

Nwanna used the forum to appreciate Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his dogged efforts to promote the socioeconomic profile of the state.

In a lecture titled, ‘Electronic Transmission Of Election Result: Panacea Or Inconsequential For Free And Fair Election In Nigeria’, Dr Onyeka Aduma called for an amendment in the nation’s electoral law to provide for the undiluted transmission of election results electronically.

According to Dr Aduma, to extinguish the charade and repeat of the sham witnessed in the February 25, 2023, presidential election, results at the polling units should be transmitted electronically to the INEC portal before being taken to the collation centres to avoid mutilating them.
