The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Retd), has pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), particularly in the areas of armourer training and ammunition procurement.
This commitment was made during a courtesy visit by DICON’s Director General, Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya, to the NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Haruna Mohammed Sani, Deputy Director of Public Information/Media at DICON, General Marwa described DICON as a strategic partner in Nigeria’s ongoing war against drug abuse and trafficking.
General Marwa commended the Director General for his proactive efforts in forging partnerships and collaborations aimed at positioning DICON to rival international defence manufacturing bodies.

In response, General Alaya thanked the NDLEA Chairman for his show of confidence and commitment to supporting local content.
He noted that the DICON Act 2023 would provide a stronger legal framework for the agency to fulfill its mandate.

“Very soon, Nigerians will be proud of DICON, with a substantive number of committed partners,” General Alaya assured, while emphasising plans to equip Nigeria’s defence and security institutions to locally produce their ammunition needs, thereby reducing dependency on imports.
The visit underlined the critical role of inter-agency collaboration in bolstering national security and industrial self-reliance.
Both leaders expressed optimism that the NDLEA-DICON partnership would not only enhance operational capacity but also contribute to broader national development goals.
