NEDC trains 331 Youths on Information Technology, commissions Laboratory

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has completed training of 331 youths on ICT. In the same vein it commissioned one Infectious Disease Laboratory in Taraba State.
Speaking at the graduation of the Beneficiaries in Jalingo the Taraba state capital, the Managing Director of the North East Development Commission Mr Mohammed Alkali said the gesture is part of the commission’s mandate to elevate the people of the region in the area of empowerment and health facilities. He said the Beneficiaries were trained in various ICT techniques such as, Computer design, computer repairs and Mobile phones repairs.
“The aim of the North East Development Commission NEDC is to provide a platform for the beneficiaries to be self Independent and have something that will steer the economy and provide jobs for them, they will be given startup kits and twenty thousand Naira each to facilitate their startup”
On his part the Taraba state governor Darius Dickson Ishaku said the state government will work in collaboration with the North East Development Commission to ensure that the person who received the training are incorporate in the state University computer center so as to replicate the knowledge they have acquired to others.
He noted that the Infectious Diseases Laboratory provided by the NEDC will help boost the state’s preparedness in the fight against infectious diseases in the state.
“People usually forget things so soon, when we had the coronavirus pandemic we had a tough time getting our samples tested so we requested the NEDC to build a Laboratory for us so that we could test the samples within Jalingo, so today we are greatfull that this a reality” He said.
Governor Ishaku thanked the Commission for fulfillment of it promise.
