NGO Seeks Partnership with Media on Health Financing

A Non-governmental organisation, NGO known as Lafiya is seeking partnership with the Media on community based health financing.

At a Workshop held at the Borno State Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Scretariat, one of the Faciltators, Dr Bakura Gadai said the workshop was for the purpose of engaging the media.

He said, “the objectives of this workshop are to engage Media Practitioners on Ethical Health Financing through  Waqf and Zakkat” (giving Willingly).

Waqf and Zakkat are words used to express charitable giving.

According to him, “the workshop will also ensure sensitisation and creation of awareness on Ethical Health Financing at strata of the society and to agree on role, responsibilities of Media Practitioners with regard to Ethical Health Financing at societal level, and to sensitise other media outlets on the need and importance of Health Financing”.

He also explains the concept, practice and role of ethical health financing system.

The workshop ended with the presentation of Media framework on ethical health financing through zakat and waqf.
