NGX: Equities trading begins week with 0.12% loss

The benchmark all-share index of equities on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) depreciated further by 0.12% on Monday to close at 44,399.66 points, being 55.01 points lower than 44,454.67 points recorded at the close of trading last week.

 

 

In like manner, the market capitalization also shed N30 billion to close the day at N23,921 trillion.

 

A total of 214.31 million shares worth N2.69 billion were traded in 4, 410 deals just as the market recorded 16 gainers and 22 losers at the close of trade.

 

 

The Initiates Plc led the gainers’ list with 0.04k to close at N0.44k followed by Sunu Assurances Nigeria, which gained 0.03k to close at N0.34k. Eterna plc gained 0.39k to close at N6.00.

 

 

Conversely, Veritas Kapital Assurance lost 0.02k to close at 0.21k. It was followed by Mutual Benefits Assurance with 0.02k loss to close at 0.25k and Cornerstone Insurance Company with 0.04k loss to close at 0.51k.

 

 

Transcorp had the highest number of traded shares (39.3 million) for the day and it was followed by First Bank Holdings with 25.5 million shares.
