The Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has urged Nigerian women to actively participate in politics to shape national discourse and contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.
Dabiri-Erewa made the appeal while delivering a keynote address at the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration organised by Zenith Bank at the Civic Centre, Lagos.
Speaking on the theme, “Take It, You Own It,” she encouraged women to support one another and work collectively towards nation-building, stressing that unity and collaboration among women would strengthen their voices in leadership and governance.

She also commended President Bola Tinubu for what she described as inclusive leadership through the appointment and election of women into key government positions.
Dabiri-Erewa further praised the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her impactful initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of women and children across the country.
In her remarks, the Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Adaora Umeoji, urged women to remain courageous, dedicated and visionary in their pursuits.
Umeoji noted that the bank’s International Women’s Day seminar is an annual event designed to inspire and empower women within and outside Nigeria, providing a platform for leadership development, professional growth and meaningful dialogue on issues affecting women.
According to her, the seminar also serves as a vehicle for promoting women’s empowerment, social impact and inclusive economic participation.
